A solvent with an evaporation residue of ≤ 1 ppm is ideal for aerosol detectors.
Highly sensitive aerosol detectors are designed to detect all types of particles.
This applies not only to sample substances but naturally also to other particles present, for instance, in the mobile phase.
These particles are defined as „evaporation residue“. The greater the evaporation residue (in ppm), the higher the noise at baseline. In other words, the signal/noise ratio deteriorates and detection sensitivity is reduced.
For this reason we offer LCS UR-grade (ultra resolution) solvents for sophisticated, sensitive detection. These are microfiltered (< 0.1 µm) using a special technique that leaves evaporation residues of only 1 ppm or less.
Evaporation residues also present problems in ultrafast chromatography. Manufacturers of high-resolution HPLC systems recommend the use of highest purity grade solvents in order to obtain the best performance from their instruments.
The use of LCS UR-grade solvents can prevent the blockage 0.1 µm pre-column frits, changes in retention times due to friction heat and other interferences.
